THE PRODUCT

Our Chaga tincture is produced using a traditional dual extraction process. Chaga has a long history of use in Siberian and Eastern European traditions, valued for its dense antioxidant profile and its reputation as a steadying, protective addition to everyday wellbeing.

THE TRADITION

Chaga does not look like most mushrooms. It grows as a dark, charred-looking mass on the trunks of birch trees across the forests of Siberia, Canada, northern Europe and Korea, less a fungus in the familiar sense, more a slow accumulation of something ancient and dense. The Indigenous peoples of Siberia called it the Gift of God. The Japanese knew it as the Diamond of the Forest. Both names point to the same thing: a deep, instinctive reverence for something that felt genuinely powerful.

Siberian and Russian folk medicine has used Chaga for centuries. It was brewed into a tea, a dark, earthy drink that indigenous communities reached for during long winters to maintain their strength and protect against illness. The Khanty people of western Siberia used it to support digestion and cleanse the body. Russian peasants drank it as a substitute for tea during times of scarcity and came to value it in its own right. By the 16th century, written records in Russia were documenting its medicinal use.

In traditional Korean and Chinese medicine, Chaga was used to support what practitioners described as the body’s defensive energy, its capacity to resist external threats and maintain internal balance. It was associated with longevity, with the kind of slow-burning vitality that came not from stimulation but from deep, steady nourishment.

Chaga is extraordinary in its antioxidant density. It contains one of the highest ORAC values of any natural food source. It is rich in betulinic acid, derived from its birch host, as well as polysaccharides, melanin and a wide range of minerals. Modern research has focused particularly on its potential to support immune function, reduce oxidative stress and support the body’s natural inflammatory responses.

It is also one of the few fungi not harvested as a fruiting body in the traditional sense. What we use is the sclerotium, the dense mass that forms over years on the birch bark. Its potency is, in part, a product of time. Chaga grows slowly. The best material comes from mushrooms that have been developing for years, absorbing compounds from the birch tree it calls home.

HOW TO USE

Shake well before use. Recommended daily intake: 1–2ml per day (1-2 pipettes). Dispense directly under the tongue or add to water or another cold drink.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
